As the Democratic National Convention rapidly approaches, the Young Democrats of Vermont will be pleased to send two of their own to Charlotte! The YDV endorsed State Representative Kesha Ram and student Matthew Metz when they ran to be two of the twelve district representatives allotted Vermont’s national delegation.  These endorsees received the two highest amounts of votes, demonstrating the abundant support for young dems in the state. To quote Young Dems of VT President, Kate Lapp: “We are very fortunate to live in a state that recognizes value of young voices…. This is really a testament to the importance of youth involvement in politics on both statewide and nationwide levels.”

Matthew Metz will be a senior at Kenyon College this fall, where he is a Campus Leader for Obama for America- Ohio. He has been an Organizing Fellow with OFA- Ohio for a year, however, Metz spend his summer in Washington, DC as an intern for the Office of Management and Administration in the White House.

In addition to representing Burlington’s ward four to the Vermont State House of Representatives, Kesha Ram also is the Legal Director for Women Helping Battered Women. Representative Ram was a founding member of the Young Democrats of Vermont and continues to be a highly active, valuable member of the organization. Rep. Ram has stated that she and Metz “will ensure Vermont's next generation is heard loud and clear” in Charlotte next month.
